Sunday's picture

These are blooming out by our pond in the backyard. I love Spring. I wish it would stay and quit playing around. It should not freeze during spring!

Changes and Best of all Shoes

It is still me, your resident cheeky monkey. I have done a bit of changing around here and hope you like it enough to stick around.

So my sweet, wonderful, dear, loving, amazing, adorable and most of all Hottest Husband in the World picked out these shoes for me. He put my two "picks" together and got me these. They should be here next week!

I am so trying not to wish away the weekend.

Rambling on....

I am sitting here waiting to hear from my father about his test results. I could go into a LONG rant about how our medical system sucks ass and how doctors should NOT be allowed to go on vacation until they make sure that people who are waiting on test results are told what those test results are. I mean is it that hard to call and tell their patients how long they have to live. I mean seriously!

Instead, I am going to rant, rave and wish.....so get ready!

Okay so I basically ranted above about the damn doctors. (Not ALL doctors....just the current one that my family is dealing with). My father's cancer has come back as I have blogged about. All the good news that we had heard that he would be able to be cancer free if he did a hormonal treatment is not the case now. We aren't sure what the final prognosis is because the doctor sent my father for more tests.

We should have found out the results last Tuesday when my dad went to the doctor. Then when they got there the doctor stated that he had been meaning to call my dad and send him for these extra tests. The doctor said that it would take 2 days to get one of the blood results back and which would have put the new results to be given by Friday of last week at the LATEST! So on Friday, my dad hadn't heard from the doctor's office so he called them. His doctor had gone on vacation and wouldn't be back until Wednesday of this week.

Well today is Thursday and I haven't heard anything yet. That means that my dad hasn't heard anything. I am chomping at the bits here.

It doesn't help that I had a bad dream last night about my dad. My nerves are a bit frazzled. UGHH.

So let me rave......My good friend and fellow blogger, J at Just Say it! has quit smoking! She is on day 6 of being cigarette free! How awesome is that? She is doing so good and I am so very proud of her. That is probably the reason she hasn't blogged lately....but I am hoping she does soon! HINT HINT.....Just sayin'!

Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things that I have done in my life. So I can honestly say that it sucks ass. I always tell people that when I quit smoking it was like a death of a really good nasty friend. I started smoking when I was 16 and I quit when I was 31.

When you quit You have to retrain yourself for EVERYTHING! Driving, talking on the phone, doing a chore, eating, and even listening to a song can strike the urge for a cig. It is a vicious cycle....and the first 2 weeks are the hardest! So totally worth all of the crankiness and bitchiness when you can finally not remember how many days you haven't had a cig or even the urge.

So stop by J's blog and give her some love and support that she deserves for quitting! (Maybe that would encourage her to write more....she is an awesome writer!)

Now on to my wishing......I found this Simple shoes website this morning and am in LOVE! I just need to save some pennies that I have lying around so I can get these black hemp shoes.....totally my style...just not the price!

And then I found these caramel hemp shoes.....ahh a girl can dream can't she? (Honey, if you are reading and would like to make your wife a happy camper (no pressure!) my shoe size is a 7 1/2. Just saying......)

Kid speak

So the red-headed child just had this conversation with his father:

RHC: "Hey, can I start a party when you guys aren't home when I am older?"

Dad: "In your own place."

RHC: "Like when my kids aren't home?"

(I won't lie, I laughed so hard I started snorting!)

explain something to me, please....

Why was President Obama on Jay Leno last night?

I don't understand. Aren't there better things to be doing with his time?

Spring break ramblings....

So the red-headed son is on spring break this week. Yesterday, we went to the museum with a couple of his friends. We learned a lot. I love the museum. There is something for everyone there.

We went to the planetarium and found out about Mars and our invasion of it. Then we went to learn all about Sharks in 3D at the IMAX. It was freaking awesome. The kids were so adorable reaching out at the school of fish swimming around us. I won't spoil anything but I will tell you that it is narrated by a sea turtle. ;)

We toured the museum and saw all the prehistoric bones as well as great displays of the animals located here in Texas. (Fun fact: Did you know that there are small black bears found in West Texas.) The red-headed son wanted to go and see the gems section. We were mesmerized by all of the colors and different types of gems. The kid found his "first" stone as he calls it (birth stone for the layman) and proudly exclaimed it to the entire museum.

We finished up the day by hitting the butterfly exhibit. We absolutely love this place. You can walk through and learn all about butterflies, crickets, giant horned beetles, bizarre walking sticks, tarantulas, mantids, and cuddly cockroaches (you know all the really fun stuff!). After all the fun learning you can take a walk through a wonderful lush rain forest where the butterflies live their short life. More often than not, one will always land on you while you are there. There are small, medium and large ones.

This morning I asked the child what he wanted to do for the day. I gave him a couple of options like ice skating or maybe a movie and lunch. He thought it over and said he had a better idea. He wanted to stay in his pajamas all day and play Rockband. That sounded just fine with me. So that is exactly what happened.

Tonight, before I put the child down with a movie, he came to me and said the following:

RHC - "Mom, I sure did have fun today. You really take good care of me.

Me - "Well thanks kiddo. I love you!"

RHC - ".....yeah, I haven't been taken, or killed, or died!"

All I can say is Thank God!

The rest of the week he is going to be spending time with family away from us. This will be the hardest couple of days.

After seven years, I have gotten pretty used to having this red-headed child around!

What is that?

A couple of years ago, I carpooled to and from work. It was a great way to save gas and money and it gave me a LOT of free time to read my trash mags (that I stole from a friend and gave back to her the next day like it was in the "mail". Whatever. I digress.) and also to look out the window and watch all the scenery go by.

One particular day we were stopped in front of the Dodge dealership and they had a HUGE inflatable Dodge logo sign. This thing was huge. When I looked up from my stolen mag and saw it my first thought was "Wow, that sure is a large Vagina!"

Then the giggling ensued. I was in full blown laughter almost peeing my pants ('cause it was a long commute).

See for yourself.

What do you think? Do you think that the Dodge logo resembles a vajayjay or really the female productive system?

I was looking for the origin of the logo and came upon The History of Car Logos webpage and found out that the Ram was chosen for the image it portrays - sure-footed, King of the Trail. I did NOT find anything saying anything regarding a vagina.

Still anytime I see that big inflatable or a logo on the back of the trucks...Vajayjay is the first thing that comes to mind. Just saying.

Watchmen

Me and the hubs went out on a date last night. I don't know if it was because it all seemed to work out well with planning or what but it was a heck of a time. We had a blast. There was good food and a killer flick.

We went to see Watchmen. I just love the comedian's smiley face.....I know it is a little morbid.

I was very impressed by the movie. There were some scenes that were majorly graphic like the prisoner scene and there were a ton of blue penis shots. I don't know why but there were. I won't lie.

I loved the plot and that it was set in the 1980's alternate reality.

Unfortunately, I hadn't read the book before hand. Fortunately, the hubs went and got it for us today. Totally cool! I am amazed at how the movie had a lot of the same shots as the comic.

I don't know if I would have been as glad about the movie if I had read the book first. Regardless, I am thrilled that I got to go out last night and watch a killer flick with the most incredible husband ever.

And a sidenote to the ladies who were in line before us wearing their flip-flops with socks (cause that really bothered me) and had their 4 or 5 year old son with them (which bothers me even more).....it is not appropriate to EVER take a child that young to a rated "R" movie. Seriously, NOT COOL!

I bet that child didn't get much sleep after watching it. There were some parts that were hard for me, a grown ass woman, to watch let alone a young boy.

Gotta find the humor

All of my life my father and I have had a close relationship. There are many special memories that I have of just him and I whether it be us going for a ride up to the store to get peanuts and coke or of him and I shopping for clothes. He has always been one of my best friends and confidant.

Today I got to have lunch with him. We were able to just sit and talk and enjoy each other's company. We haven't gotten to do that in a while as both of our lives have been hectic. So it was really nice to have a moment that we could both reconnect.

He has his tests on Monday to find out where the cancer is located. If it is localized he will have radiation and it should eradicate the cancer. That would be the best case scenario. If it isn't in one spot and if it has traveled around his body he will have to do a hormone therapy. Both scenarios are better than having no hope at all.

Years ago when the cancer first came I was told that we would only have up to 6 months with my father. So we thought the worst when we heard it was back. Now the doctor says that my dad will die someday....just not of cancer. I feel as if I can breath again. I know he does too.

This is an uphill battle that he is just starting again. It will take a while but my father will overcome the cancer that is in his body. There is a big difference this time than the last with his cancer.....this time there is hope.

About 9 years ago I had gone to a "fun" party that one of my friends hosted. It was an adult toy party. I had picked up some flourescent glow in the dark body paint. mmmmmmmkay...I just got it as I felt I needed to buy something at said party. As a joke, I gave the green glow in the dark paint to my father when he was going through radiation the first time. He thought it would be a real hoot to paint himself with the green paint and surprise my mother. He put the paint under the light and then applied himself and after my mother was in bed he turned out the lights and proceeded to get in bed. He said my mother freaked out. He said he hadn't laughed as hard in a while. Now I am sure my mother was horrified at first but I know she enjoyed the laugh after she was let in on the joke. This is how we deal with tough stuff in our lives. Humor. I swear it is the best medicine ever.

So we shall handle this battle of cancer the same way we have battled the beast with my mother and father, we shall find the humor in it all. Big or small, we will laugh even when it hurts to laugh.

I wonder if I have any of that paint left. Or would it still be good after this many years?

Sunday's picture

Today we went out to Katy and we saw some interesting things.

First we have redneck tubing or redneck sleigh ride or redneck land surfing? Call it what you want....this is what we saw.

Then we look over and saw training wheels......
Seriously? Training wheels?
